He signed his first contract and debuted hours later
Boca Juniors gave Anselmino his first professional contract on the morning of 10 June 2023. Hours later, they brought him on against Lanús for his senior debut. Fourteen months after beginning his professional life, he had a £15.6m move to Chelsea agreed.

From a town most Argentines could not find
Anselmino grew up in Bernardo Larroudé, a small town in La Pampa a long way from Buenos Aires and further still from London. Boca Juniors recruited him at twelve, which meant leaving home while he was still a child. He has been building a career far from that town ever since.

Did you know
His first trophy was named after a president
The first competition Anselmino won was the Evo Cup, a youth tournament in Bolivia named in tribute to former president Evo Morales. Boca Juniors beat River Plate 2-0 in the 2022 final. Few English fans have heard of the trophy, but it remains the first one in his cabinet.
