His story
- 01Record
The most expensive British footballer there has ever been
Rogers was still a Championship player when Middlesbrough signed him from Manchester City in 2023. Aston Villa bought him for £8m seven months later; three years after that, Chelsea paid £117m. The British record he broke had belonged to Elliot Anderson for less than a fortnight.

Arsenal wanted him. He chose their London rivals
Arsenal pursued Rogers through the summer, but he signed for Chelsea instead and immediately called them “the biggest club in London.” It was the sort of line that wins over a new crowd before a ball has been kicked. Scoring on his debut at Fulham finished the introduction.

He invented Cole Palmer's famous celebration
Rogers first crossed his arms after scoring a winner for Middlesbrough. His best mate from Manchester City's academy copied him a week later, and somehow the pose became Cold Palmer instead. Chelsea's £117m move for Rogers has now reunited the celebration's inventor with the player who made it famous.
